HPG Update

Covid-19 continues to rule our lives and it is impossible to tell when we can start meetings again. In the meantime the committee would like to let members know they are not forgotten and we look forward to getting back to our meetings and workshops.

One method of meeting our members has been by using the Zoom meeting app. We now held four meetings and we are on a steep learning curve mastering the technology. This week we subscribed to Zoom so that we can have longer meetings and enjoy other advantages.

So far the response from members has been underwhelming but we have had a solid core of 15 members who seem to enjoy the experience. We do not take ourselves too seriously as we learn this new technology and develop new presentation skills. If nothing else, members can catch up with each other, enjoy each others company and have a bit of fun and banter.

We have also held a few presentations by our members on photo editing, alternative photo editing programs and this week the subject was taking portraits in natural light. At 3pm next Wednesday, John Smith will do a presentation on how to take macro photographs. It is all light hearted and fun and I look forward to more members joining us. Just click on the link on the email which I will send to you at 2.50pm on Wednesday 20th of May.

Please contact me if you need help to get onto the Zoom sessions.

Zoom Meetings

During this Covid-19 pandemic the HPG has tried to maintain member contact by using the Zoom meetings App, and so far we have held four meetings. We are still developing our Zoom skills so that we can maintain communications with members including a session by Col Bennett on copying an image from one photo to another photo using Photoshop. In this week’s session we had a presentation from Garry Gannell on using the Affinity photo editing program as an alternative to Photoshop.

We have produced a video of the meeting, and will attempt to send it to members via Dropbox, because it is too large for this site.

I thank our presenters and participants for joining the meeting and look forward to seeing more members joining our Zoom meetings.

I will announce next Tuesday’s subject when I send out the next Zoom meeting notice and would like to continue this service for members until this emergency is over.

We have not reached the degree of technical sophistication of the ABC but it is a start, and I hope we can further develop our expertise as this Corona virus continues to afflict us and I invite members to send me their ideas for dealing with this crisis.

All Members : Your vote needed for the APRIL In-House Competition !

The Competition is now closed and we need your vote. Follow these instructions :

Log in to our Website > Click on Members > Click on the blue window marked with a * that reads : Online Scoring (next to the April In-House Competition) > it will take you to a page that reads : Online scoring info.

Read through the info ( you are reminded that for THIS competition, your vote should be from 1-5) and then click on the same page on the LH side on “Set Subject” in a purple window.

You will be taken to the images > click on the 1st Image and select a number between 1-5 (right above the image) which, in your opinion, will be a fair score for the particular image. The following will appear on your score : Your score is being recorded, wait for the next image…and the next image rolls on by and you score that. Make sure you see , at the end of the 16 images, the note saying : You have scored all 16 images. If you have missed one, use the back-arrow facility ON the scoreline and check where the yellow indicator for the score of any image is missing and score that again.

Good luck with the judging !

Virtual hugs,

Lindie

New IN-HOUSE competition for April 2020!

Let’s have a bit of fun, seeing we have ( a lot of ) time on our hands.

I have created a new Digital Competition for April 2020. It is called IN-HOUSE because the judging will be done by the MEMBERS of HPG. The results will not be added to your aggregate score.

The brief is : “Handling boredom in isolation“. (Harry’s choice) A quirky imagination, some inspiration and a healthy dose of originality will be rewarded . A 3-image limit per member.
The competition closes on Sunday, 3rd May @ 6pm. Results will be made known the following Tuesday during our Zoom – Meeting @ 7pm

Happy snapping!

Virtual hugs and kisses xxx

Introducing Everyone at MyPhotoClub

An entry site has been established for all members of all MyPhotoClub clubs to collectively enter a series of friendly competitions to engage with during these challenging times.

The first round is called A Thing at Home – find an inanimate item in your home and see what you can come up with. Two entries per person. Entries close April 19th.

The competitions are themed with two entry slots and run weekly. The judging will be done using online scoring where a score between one and five is given for each entry. Everyone is invited to participate in online scoring.

There is no entry fee or charge for using this.

Each entrant’s privacy is maintained as the club level features of viewing profiles and other images of the entrant are disabled.

You can access the competition at https://everyone.myphotoclub.com.au/. Use the subscribe button to get updates about each competition

Access is also through a link is provided on your Members page and is also accessible from the All Sites icon (top right of page).
