Successful Disney Princess Session last Saturday

On behalf of the Poisoned Apple I would like to thank everyone involved in our recent photo shoot. It was such a magical day with some wonderful people .

We love helping and creating with you all , if it wasn’t for the amazing people in the Photography Club we would not be able to spread magic like we do .
As another big thank you please let us know if you would like a special princess message – call for any of your children or grand children .

My girls are very grateful for the experience and photography and posing lessons you taught us .

We are looking forward to working with you all again . If you ever need models please don’t hesitate to ask as we have some wonderful ideas .

Thank you again for everything
Rommley Brady
Owner of the poisoned Apple

** I would like to welcome more of our Members to the Sessions we arrange and the magic we create. Keep your eyes peeled for Photo-Sessions in the future – we advertise it to ALL members in e-mails, the Newsletter, txt’s, Facebook – all you need do is read it, make a note on your calendar and if possible, get to the Club with your Camera.**

  • If you have never competed (even whilst being a Member of another Club) – you can upload all your Distinctions from the other Club and from HPG.
  • If you have entered before – be very careful what you enter so as not to duplicate any previous entries you have made. LOOK AT THE CATALOGUES on this TOP SHOT Website to ascertain your previous entries
  • I cannot stress the competence level and sheer wow-factor of images entered in this Competition enough. It is a State Competition. The images are brilliant.
  • I’ll talk about the Competition on the 1st June at LUSC AFTERNOON Workshop with Bruce Bentley.

Ever wanted to shoot in a professional Studio ?

SATURDAY , 5th JUNE (9am-12) I’ve arranged for a professional Studio Photographer to set up Shop at our Club-Venue @ EDCC, Coles Lighthouse Plaza. There will be THREE studios. One for Portraiture, and two others for full-length images. Each of these studios will have professional lighting equipment as well as Triggers for you to use. You do NOT need a flash of your own for your camera. Your Camera, Card and fully charged battery will be good enough.

We will be shooting Disney Princesses : Rapunzel , Ariel and Alice in Wonderland and maybe Elsa, The Snow Queen. They will all be in full costume, perfectly made up and we will have loads of fun , surrounded by very pretty girls/young women, all eager to have their picture taken.

I hear some of you saying : What do we want with Princesses ? A couple of reasons : Firstly, models cost and these girls will do it for free. Secondly, you will learn a lot about lighting and specifically, the different moods one can create with the correct lighting. Thirdly, because you may never have the opportunity to shoot in a Studio with Professional lights in your life and lastly : You can use these images to do Altered Reality, Creative work or just straight up in the Competitions. There’s a lot to be said for a well-taken image under the correct lighting. Come along and be part of a HPG-initiative , instead of sitting at home watching Telly.

I try so hard to find us professionals who can teach us something. Please come and play on Saturday 5th June.

Virtual hugs, Lindie

Invitation to participate in a Shoot for Saints Football Club (PSFC)

On SUNDAY, 6th JUNE, from 9am The Port Saints Football Club will be hosting a Soccer Gala at FINDLAY PARK (Cnr Findlay Ave and Hastings River Drive) with 25 Teams playing SHORT GAMES – fast & furious , I’d imagine..

There are 7 Soccer Fields (6 mini-fields and a full one) at Findlay Park for the Gala and we each grab a field and ‘cover the event’. By this I mean you take images of what transpire on YOUR field. You might end up with a couple of 100 images before/until you get into the rhythm and start anticipating when a spectacular kick or a header will get in your view-finder. We shoot with (mostly) 70-200 mm or wide-angle lenses, f5 (for speed and to try and throw the Background OOF ), Continuous High (burst) and Focus tracking, or continuous focus. We shoot RAW as the sun at noon has a tendency to blow out your images, so you are able to ‘fix’ them in your study.

Back home, you give your images a quick edit, size them THE SAME as for CLUB, and copy and paste them into your Dropbox folder I will create for you (with the link sent to you) OR put your images on a memory stick for me to do it for you. You deliver as many images as you’d like, as long as they are sharp and in focus.. Remember, every mum and dad want to see images of their child participating in the Game, so you have to take images of each child … Port Saints Football Club’s colour is BLUE (with black stripes)

As parking around the Club is at a premium, I suggest we share-ride . Remember a HAT, SUNBLOCK, comfy Shoes, a folding chair (if you need one), something to snack on, a wind-breaker and a FORMATTED card plus a spare battery for your Camera. They give us water and coffee on the house and this time also a cupcake as they have a Cake Stand. Please pitch to participate in a fun-day with lots of laughter & fun with other Club Members. We do it IN the Community FOR the Community. There’s some really great images to be had.

Please let me know if you are able to make it, even if only then for the morning or a few hours. I need Shooters to cover this event. These shoots are a great way to develop your skills as a photographer (both on location and in your study)

Aggregate Pointscore now viewable on the Competition page.

Dear Members,

I’ve re-opened the Pointscore for your perusal. Log in >Member> on the Competition-loading page on the LEFT-HAND side (on the top, next to View my Entries – purple window) is a blue window that reads POINTSCORE. Click on that and then click on either Digital :- Mono, Open Colour, Nature and Set Subject to see everyone’s scores for each of the Categories. If you have entered only Open Colour or Set Subject , those are the categories you click on to see your cumulative score.

I will close the feature again in September so we won’t know precisely who lies where at the end of the Year. A bit of a surprise for us…

Someone might just ‘steal’ away the Aggregate Competition this Year from the usual suspects

Load your image for Colin’s Challenge just as you would your Competition images. Colin Bennet’s Challenge can be found between JUNE and JULY ’21 Competition entry windows on the Website. This week ‘s brief : Bottle / s

In the meantime…keep dry and safe , but take your Camera out in the rain over the next few days to get some rain-shots for the Set Subject later this year. Go as far as your Garden and I’m sure you’ll see something unusual or pretty with reflections.

Virtual Hugs
