Take note of change in Competition closing dates.

Dear All ,

The closing date for our Digital Image of the Year (DIOTY) has been brought forward to 31st October instead of middle November like we used to have.

The practical implication for this arrangement would be that you’ll have November ‘22 – September ‘23 (ie. 10 months) of images to submit in DIOTY 2023. This arrangement will be applicable to 2023 only …as of 2024 you’ll have the usual 11 months worth of images to submit in the DIOTY .

The quantity of images to be submitted in the DIOTY has also been cut. You are allowed 2 (two) images per category. There are 3 (three) categories in DIOTY : Open Colour, Mono and Nature

Kindly also note that October 2023 and November 2023 competitions reside under the 2024 year-button.

Curtailing images in monthly Competitions

A decision was taken yesterday at the committee meeting to limit the number of images to 4 ( four) instead of 8 ( eight) per individual.

This rule will apply to the September competition onward. You will still notice 8 blocks, ensuring you are not limited to categories , but to the number of submissions across categories instead.

The DIOTY ( Digital Image of the Year) competition-entries will also be limited to 2 ( two) images per category instead of the previous 3 ( three), thereby limiting the total number of entries to 6 (six)

Take care, but above all, keep taking great photographs.

Lightroom, Bridge and Photoshop Workshop

Ian Dodd has kindly agreed to repeat his Workshop on the new features and updates of the Adobe Suite to members of HPG on the 12th August , 9am – 2pm ( tea-and lunch-break included) at EDCC.
Colin Bennett will be his ‘Runner’ ( helping members to keep up) for Photoshop and Bridge and Lindie will be helping with Lightroom.

Bring your Laptop with the Adobe Suite loaded and fully updated, power cable, external mouse and 4x images ( sea/landscapes as well as any other images you’d like unwanted elements removed ) in TIFF ( high resolution) loaded on your Laptop in a Folder.

Cost : FREE , just bring your sprightly self.

Lightroom, Bridge & Photoshop Workshop in Kempsey at the RSL

Ian Dodd has kindly offered to host a FREE editing workshop on the 29th July at 9:00am – 2:30pm the RSL in Kempsey.

It won’t be a beginners-course, more a familiarisation of the latest upgrades and new features in the Adobe Editing Suite .

What to bring : 1) Laptop with power cord & mouse ( or Tablet – your preferred device for editing). 2) Upload a few of your Landscapes/Seascapes and Portraits in Tiffs/ High resolution so you can work on them during the session. ( make sure the images have objects you want removed…the object of the Workshop) 3) Have the Adobe Suite loaded on your device. 4) Bring your own USB/ memory stick to download the notes.

Park in the Carpark and be at the SIDE DOOR of the Club just before 9am and you’ll be let in. ( the Main Doors of the Club open at 10am only, the reason for the Side Door entry)

There will be a morning tea and lunch break – you can avail of the Club’s offerings.
